Registered-till requirement · planned from 2028 (draft bill)
The cash-register obligation is coming. Make it easy on yourself.
Under the current draft bill, from 1 January 2028 the open cash drawer is set to end – for every business with annual turnover above €100,000. No law has been passed yet. The small till from DiKAS runs in the browser – on the phone or tablet you already have. Thanks to the cloud and online TSE, with no till hardware.
Am I affected?
Three questions – one answer
If you work today with an open cash drawer or handwritten receipts and you are above the turnover threshold, the planned obligation affects you.
Turnover above €100,000?
The threshold named in the coalition agreement. Whether cash or total turnover counts is still open – just below it? Then it's better to prepare anyway.
Open cash drawer?
Cash box, paper slips, counting log – exactly these businesses are set to record electronically and tamper-proof in future.
Deadline 1 Jan 2028 (planned)
That's what the current draft bill says (as of July 2026). No law yet – but whoever waits switches in the deadline rush.

Draft bill on the table – finance minister names 1 Jan 2028, no law passed yet
planned start: 1 January, turnover threshold €100,000
As of July 2026. The registered-till requirement is a draft bill, not yet law – information without guarantee, not legal or tax advice.

Step 1
Create articles – via AI in minutes
Photograph your price list or menu and upload it: the AI recognises articles, prices and options and creates everything automatically. You can type, of course – but you don’t have to.
Step 2
Take payment – in the browser on your device
Phone, tablet or PC: the small till runs anywhere a browser runs. Tap articles, the receipt grows with you, take payment by cash or via EC terminal (ZVT).
Step 3
Close out – TSE-signed and tax-proof
End-of-day close in two minutes, every transaction TSE-signed, DSFinV-K export for the audit and DATEV export for your tax advisor. Your tax advisor will love you for it.
TSE – but relaxed
The mandatory tech? You choose it.
Every compliant till needs a technical security device (TSE). With DiKAS you have the choice – both KassenSichV-compliant, you decide what suits your business.
Online Cloud TSE
Nothing to plug in, nothing to install – ideal if you only take payments on a phone or tablet. The signature comes from the cloud. Included in the Basic plan, €12/month from the Gastro plan.
USB TSE (Swissbit)
The proven classic at the till device, selectable from the Gastro plan: one-off €269*, then no ongoing TSE costs.
* The TSE hardware is certified for a 5-year term; after that it is replaced.

Frequently asked
The cash-register obligation, briefly answered
Who does the planned cash-register obligation affect?
Under the current ministry draft bill, a registered-till requirement (Registrierkassenpflicht) is planned from 1 January 2028 for businesses with annual turnover above €100,000. No law has been passed yet (as of July 2026). Under the draft, anyone who crosses the €100,000 threshold for the first time only has to record electronically from 1 April of the following year.
What already applies today?
There is no general registered-till requirement yet – the open cash drawer (offene Ladenkasse) is currently allowed, but with strict documentation obligations. Anyone who already takes payments electronically must meet the KassenSichV: TSE, receipt issuance and DSFinV-K export. DiKAS brings all of that.
Is my phone enough as a till?
Yes. DiKAS runs in the browser – on the smartphone, tablet or PC you already have. 1 client is included in every plan (Club: 2). For card payment you connect your own EC terminal via ZVT.
What about the TSE?
In the Basic plan, the online Cloud TSE is included, without any extra hardware. From the Gastro plan you have the choice: the Cloud TSE for €12/month or the proven Swissbit USB TSE (one-off €269*, no ongoing TSE costs after that). Both KassenSichV-compliant.
What does the switch cost me?
The Basic plan costs €29 per month (plus VAT), can be cancelled monthly, and with self-installation there are no setup costs. The Cloud TSE is already included in the Basic plan; from the Gastro plan the TSE costs €12/month (cloud) or a one-off €269* (Swissbit USB TSE). No minimum term, no hidden fees.
Why not just wait and see?
Waiting is not worth it: under the draft bill the obligation kicks in from 1 April of the year after you first cross the €100,000 threshold – which can come sooner than you think. And at the deadline everyone wants to switch at the same time. Whoever starts earlier eases in calmly and gets the benefit right away: end-of-day close in minutes instead of paper chaos, clean reports and DATEV export for your tax advisor.
As of July 2026 – information without guarantee, not legal or tax advice. More background on the blog: Registrierkassenpflicht – who it affects.
